Police investigating reports of a suspect package outside Salford Cathedral this morning have confirmed it was not a dangerous device.
Officers were called to the scene on Chapel Street on Thursday 23 July at around 7.45am.
They found a small suitcase had been left outside the steps of the Catholic cathedral.
On inspection the contents of the suitcase were revealed to be a variety of waste material.
Officers dispensed of the bag and its contents and no further action was taken.
