Child hurt after being knocked down in Walkden

A young child suffered head injuries after being knocked over by a car in Walkden this morning.

Police were called at 11am today, Thursday 17 September, to the junction of Manchester Road and Bolton Road outside The Stocks pub in the centre of town.

The child suffered cuts, bruises and minor head injury after being hit by black Smart car.

They were treated at the scene before being taken by ambulance to Royal Bolton hospital.

The driver of the Smart car was not arrested and police are treating the incident as an accident.

It’s the second time in a week that a young person has been knocked over in Salford, after a young  boy suffered a badly broken leg in a hit and run on Tootal Drive on Saturday 13 September.
