Salix Homes tenants can look forward to a new locally-based repairs service.
As from Monday October 5 they’ll be providing their repairs service directly rather than going through separate contractors.
The move will give us them greater control over the service they provide and the standard of repairs all their customers will receive.
A lot of the operatives who worked for their previous repairs contractor – Mears – will be joining them, so tenants will still recognise those familiar faces who have delivered their repairs in the past.
Lee Sugden, chief executive at Salix Homes, said: “Today marks a momentous occasion for Salix Homes as we launch our new in-house repairs service.
“We know our tenants and our properties better than anyone and are confident we can deliver a new repairs service, based in Salford, that both we and our tenants can be proud of.
“Ahead of the transfer of homes from Salford Council to ourselves earlier this year, we made a promise that we would provide the high quality repairs service that our tenants deserve so we are delighted to be able to deliver on that promise so soon after the transfer.”
