Top 10 things to do in Salford this weekend


The weekend is almost upon us once again and because there’s so many events on in Salford we’ve had to extend Top 5 things to do to a Top 10!

Cbeebies Christmas Igloo – Friday 4 December – Sunday 6 December – 11am – 4pm

Treat the little ones with a visit to the CBeebies Christmas Igloo at MediaCityUK.

Take the kiddiwinks to enjoy Christmas arts and crafts, storytelling time and even some of your favourite CBeebies stars,

The event is free to attend and will really get you in the Christmas spirit!

Eccles Community Choir – Friday 4 December – 7.30pm – 9.30pm

Call in at the newly refurbished Eccles Town Hall for an evening of festive entertainment with a beautiful choir as they entertain with traditional Christmas songs, an ideal family evening out.

Raffle, cakes and refreshments available.

Price: £5 on the door, children free.

Traditional Christmas Fair – Bright Road Church Hall, Eccles – Saturday 5 December – 12pm – 3pm

Visit the small chapel on Bright Road and post a letter to Santa, buy Christmas presents including holly wreaths, decorations, toys and generally have a good time.

Help Little Hulton groups win £18k – Community Piggy Bank – Saturday 5 December – 2pm

Come and hear 30 community groups in Little Hulton bid for £18,000 cash confiscated by police from criminals.

Christmas celebrations at Ordsall Hall – Saturday 5 December and Sunday 6 December – 12pm – 4pm

Join in for a weekend of Christmas celebrations and enjoy the festivities including music, songs, crafts and a chance to meet Father Christmas.

Price: Grotto £4.

Eccles Elf Hunt – Saturday 5 December to Saturday 19 December – 10am – 4pm

Santa’s lost his elves – can you track them all down? Look in the windows of local shops and spot the cheeky chappies that have been made by local schools and community groups.

Small Business Saturday – Saturday 5 December – 10am – 4pm

Eccles Shopping Centre is supporting the national Small Business Saturday campaign.

Discounts, special officers and goodies on offer across the centre call along and help support small businesses in the area.

Christmas Concert at Ordsall Hall – Sunday 6 December – 2pm – 3.30pm

Join us for a festive performance at the beautiful Ordsall Hall. This concert will include performances from the Salford Brass Band as well as some of their youngest performers in Suzuki Strings – some of these musicians are as young as 3 yrs old!

The Ordsall Hall cafe will be providing mince pies and a festive feel, so come along and get into the Christmas spirit.

On the trail of Santa – Blackleach Country Park, Walkden – Sunday 6 December – 12pm – 2pm

A walk in the park following the footsteps of the reindeer to find Santa.

Can you find him amongst the winter wildlife?

Please dress warmly. Meet at the Visitor Centre.

Price: Free admission.

Musical Christmas Celebrations – Salford Museum and Art Gallery – Sunday 6 December – 12pm – 4pm

Come and join in as Salford Museum and Art Gallery continue with the Christmas festivities in musical style with a whole weekend of entertainment and activities.

Listen to songs and carols from their Choirs (Golden Voices on Saturday 5 December and Monton Voices on Sunday 6 December). Our younger visitors can meet Father Christmas in his grotto (both days) and take part in Christmas themed arts and crafts!
