A Salford schoolgirl’s dream has come true after she won a competition to be a mascot for Manchester City FC.
Ella Wright, 11, is a member of the junior citizens club at Manchester City and entered the competition to lead out the team in their Capital One cup final match at Wembley Stadium.
The Willow Tree primary school student won after submitting a picture showing her celebration ‘if she scored the winning goal.’
She’ll now lead out the team on Saturday 28 February when they take on Liverpool.
Ella said, “It’s a lifelong dream.”
Dad Scott said, “It’s amazing we’re all still in shock we can’t quite believe it, I think we will believe it when we get the tickets and kit.”
He added: “Well done for trying so hard in all the competitions, if you get nervous, just be brave and enjoy every moment of this amazing, once in a lifetime experience, we are all proud of you.”
Ella isn’t just a football fan, she also plays for Swinton under 11’s girls team.
She has played for them for four years and finished a game on Saturday where she scored the winning goal.
It hasn’t been the easiest time for Ella growing up, as she suffered from skin problems since birth.
The 11-year-old has endured children and adults making comments about it so this amazing award is well deserved.
Good luck Ella from all of us at SalfordOnline.com!
