Girl taken to hospital in ‘targeted’ Ordsall knife attack

Police are investigating after a man attacked a 19-year-old girl with a knife in Ordsall, Salford, last night.

At around 10pm on Thursday 25 June the suspect got out of a taxi on Gloucester Street, off Regent Road, and approached the girl.

A police source confirmed the man confronted her on the street and pulled out a blade, slashing at her.

The victim put up her hands to defend herself and in trying to grab the blade suffered deep cuts to her palms.

Paramedics arrived at the scene at 10.17pm and the girl was taken to Salford Royal hospital for treatment.

Her injuries, while painful, are not thought to be serious.

Police do not believe this to be a random attack.

The man, who is believed to be of a similar age, ran off through the Ordsall estate on foot.

Officers have not made any arrests and no description of the man is available as of yet.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Greater Manchester Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
