Ackros chemical plant in Eccles sold for £8.27m

London-based property developers St Modwen have sold off a chemical plant in Eccles, Salford, for £8.27 million.

Friends Life Limited acquired Akcros Chemicals Limited in a deal supported by WSB Property Consultants and Pinsent Mason Solicitors.

The plant manufactures plastic additives for and polysulphide chemicals for the aerospace, marine and construction industries.

The 22.6 acre site, which is located just off the M602 and north of Trafford Park is fully let to Akcros  for the next 21 years.

St Modwen Properties Plc acquired the Ackros facility on Lankro Way in 2007.

It has famously employed thousands of Salford people and was given the SalfordOnline.com historical series treatment back in 2013.

Steven Knowles, regional director of St. Modwen, said: “We acquired this property in 2007 as part of a wider site.
“Akcros has traded successfully throughout that period.
“In line with our strategy for long let investments, this sale will allow us to focus on development and asset management opportunities.”

St Modwen have retained a 14-acre plot (outlined in blue below) which is earmarked for new development.

Mr Knowles added: “We are actively seeking opportunities throughout the North West, which allow us to focus on our core skills, and have the funds ready to invest in the region.”
