Ordsall power cut: 50 homes without electricity for 8 hours

Over 50 homes in Ordsall, Salford have been without power for over six hours after a cable fault was caused by damaged equipment.

The power went off at around 11am today, Tuesday 4 August.

The streets affected include Brownfield Avenue, Ledbrook Close, Phoebe Street, Colman Gardens, Brigantine Close, Comus Street, Napier Green, Collingburn Avenue, West Park Street, Windmill Avenue and Whimberry Close.

Electricity North West (ENW) handle electricity supply for the area.

The supplier says its engineers are already on site and working to restore the electricity supply.

They are hoping to have the problem fixed by 7pm but repairs could conceivably take until 11pm-midnight tonight, Tuesday 4 August.

Local residents say they have struggled throughout the day to get any updates from engineers.

One told SalfordOnline.com: “It’s ridiculous.

“We’ve had no electricity for six hours already.

“I’ve got children that need feeding and potentially ruined food in the fridge and freezer.”

A spokesperson for ENW said: “We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the interruption to supply and our engineers are working to restore power as soon as possible.”
