Salford welcomes its new health boss

Salford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) last week welcomed their new Chief Accountable Officer to the organisation.

Anthony Hassall, 40, who previously was the Executive Director of Strategy and Organisational Development at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, joined the organisation on Monday 3 August.

Anthony – who has lived in Salford for 17 years – has lengthy experience in developing strong, successful, strategic partnerships with health and social care organisations.

Previous roles include a number of senior roles in hospitals, primary care, the Department of Health, Cheshire and Merseyside Strategic Health Authority and a secondment to a mental health organisation in Massachusetts, USA.

Mr Hassall took over from Alan Campbell, who after 24 years’ service in the NHS retired in July.

Reflecting upon the end of his first week, Mr Hassall said: “I am a proud resident of Salford, and am delighted to now be able to work on behalf of and with the people within this community.

“Having lived in the city for such a long time, I have seen the fantastic work that has already been carried out thanks to the CCG and I look forward to carrying on where Alan, my predecessor left off.”

Dr Hamish Stedman, Salford GP and chair of Salford CCG, said: “Having worked with Alan for five years I would like to wish him the very best of luck in his retirement. And on behalf of the Governing Body and CCG would like to offer a warm welcome to Anthony.

“Anthony has vast experience working within both the public and private sectors and has a strong belief in lasting and sustainable programmes of work. He and I have both lived in Salford for many years and I know we share a strong sense in the future of this city, one that centres on the wellbeing of its people. The future is exciting for the residents of Salford.”
