Police Tactical Aid Units raided a house in Salford after a teenager was shot in the leg in Stretford.
Officers were scrambled to a terraced house on Brookfield Avenue, near Salford Royal Hospital, at 10.25pm last night, Monday 17 August.
They were acting on intelligence that the occupant may have information about the shooting of an 18-year-old man in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police forensic units were joined by sniffer dogs at the scene.
Shocked residents told how officers were coming and going from the property, and were still there at 10am this morning, Tuesday 18 August.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said there had been no arrests at this time.
A separate house on Brookfield Avenue was raided by police in April 2015 and two cars seized over suspected drug distribution.
The Stretford shooting victim was blasted in the leg by an unknown gunman sometime between the early hours of Sunday morning.
He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious, but not life-threatening, condition.
Armed officers were called to Moss Vale Road in Stretford at around 2am that morning.
Detectives linked the shooting to a possible argument that erupted outside the nearby Moss Vale pub just hours before the attack.
Chief Superintendent Mary Doyle said: “We have launched an investigation and we believe that an altercation took place outside Moss Vale Pub between 11.30pm on Saturday and 12:30am on Sunday morning.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who was at the pub between those times or who has any information about the altercation, no matter how small.
“I understand that people may be reluctant to speak to police, but you may know something that could help our investigation and I would urge you to come forward.
“In the meantime we have increased patrols in the area and if anybody has any concerns or information then I would urge them to please speak to one of our officers on patrol or contact police.”
Police have not formally linked the attack to any recent shootings in Little Hulton, Clifton or Salford.
