City West to deliver Edison Road regeneration

City West Housing Trust has secured planning permission to transform a derelict site in Salford into a modern apartment complex.

Land on the site of the former Patricoft Conservative Club on Edison Road in Eccles – which was demolished in 2005 – is set to be re-developed into a 36 apartment complex for Affordable Rent.

The scheme includes 16 one-bedroom and 20 two-bedroom homes and has been developed with £864,000 of grant funding from the Homes and Communities Agency. Work will begin in September 2015 and is expected to be completed by Autumn 2016.

City West’s latest development project forms part of its £75 million plan to deliver more than 700 homes to the Salford area by 2018.

The landlord – part of the ForViva housing group, which owns and manages 18,000 homes across the North West – is also currently completing the £14.3 million transformation of the nearby Barton Village high-rise tower blocks and is also currently developing 12 homes for shared ownership alongside the Bridgewater Canal.

The scheme is to be delivered for City West by Mangrove Estates Ltd.

Nigel Sedman, Director of Investment and Regeneration at City West, said: “Salford urgently needs more affordable homes, and our new project marks another step towards building 700 homes by 2018.

“This latest scheme will support our wider regeneration plans for the Salford area, whilst further contributing to creating sustainable communities that residents are proud to live in.”
