The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for a thunderstorm on Saturday evening.
Isolated storms are expected to bring local flooding, strong gusts of wind, and the possibility of lightning and hail.
A yellow weather alert for heavy rain has been issued by forecasters.
Increasing temperatures throughout the day are due to hot, unstable air moving north from France, bringing the likelihood of the mercury pushing towards 30°C on Saturday evening.
It could spark torrential thunderstorms with the risk of more than 30mm of rain falling in less than an hour.
The first part of the country to be hit is the Midlands, with showers moving north and west throughout the later evening.
