Motorcyclist dies in city centre collision


At about 4.40pm on Saturday 22 August 2015, police were called to Princess Street in Manchester city centre, to a report of a collision.

Officers attended and established that a white Yamaha R6 had been travelling on Princess Street, when the rider lost control and collided with a building.

The 28-year-old motorcyclist suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to hospital, but sadly died.

Princess Street was closed for four and a half hours while emergency services dealt with the scene, but has since been reopened.

Sergeant Paul Higgins of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the family of the man who tragically died as a result of this collision.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone with information about the incident to come forward and speak to police.”
