AFC Monton enjoyed an early Autumn fixture against an in-form Hindsford side and after a well fought battle emerged with all three points thanks to a poachers goal by Reece Hardy and a late penalty conversion from Mike Gill.
After a first half stalemate which saw both sides play too much tentative, cautious football with neither goalkeeper really tested, the second half certainly came to life as the Ammies took the game to their visitors.
Early strikes by Reece Hardy and Mike Gill tested the Hindsford keeper and Hardy found the opening goal on the hour with a delicately placed close range finish.
Unfortunately Monton’s advantage was short lived as a defensive mix up just minutes later gifted their visitors an equaliser and the hope of some reward but Monton’s resolve and belief earned them a victory on the day as a late penalty coolly scored by Mike Gill following a clumsy challenge ensured them a shared place at the top of the League table.
