Little Hulton shooting: More violence as house blasted by gunman on Gorse Drive


Armed police closed off Gorse Drive in Little Hulton after the front door of a house was blasted with a gun.

Tactical aid units swarmed to the small residential street shortly after midnight on Wednesday 9 March.

Local residents reported the sound of a single gunshot before seeing police arrive.

Officers cordoned off the street before sending in forensic Crime Scene Investigators, who discovered gunshot damage to the front door.

They were still at the property as residents left for work at 5.30am today, Wednesday 9 March.

No-one was reported injured in the attack.

It’s just the latest in a long series of house shootings in Little Hulton.

Back in October 2015 a series of houses were targeted in escalating gang violence between two warring groups.

At midnight on Friday 9 October a 48-year-old man was shot in the back in a house on Mossbrook Drive in Little Hulton, Salford.

A gunman on a motorbike fired four shots at a house on Worsley Road on the Farnworth/Walkden border at 10pm on Saturday 10 October, damaging the front door of the house.

At 11.25pm the same night, the downstairs front window of a house on Gorse Drive in Little Hulton was broken by a gunshot.

Armed police swarmed to both areas, closing off entire streets.

At 3.45pm on Saturday 10 October a man in his 20s was airlifted to Manchester Royal Infirmary after being shot in the stomach on Cannon Street in Bolton.

Violence erupted again in January.

On Friday 28 January a 21-year-old man was stabbed multiple times with bottles and knives as he drank in Cyn’s Tavern, a bar on the Little Hulton shopping precinct.

In a statement Greater Manchester Police said: “Police are investigating after a firearm was discharged in Salford.

“Shortly after midnight on Wednesday 9 March 2016, police received a report that a shot had been fired at the front door of an address on Gorse Drive in Little Hulton.

“Armed officers attended and found damage to the door consistent with a gunshot being fired.

“No one was injured during the incident and enquiries are ongoing.”
