Woman, 52, crushed by reversing car at Walkden Tesco


A woman has suffered leg injuries after being hit by a car in Walkden.

Police and ambulances were called to Bolton Road, near Tesco Extra, at 10.39am today, Friday 14 August.

It’s understood the accident happened when the female driver of a Vauxhall Astra was reversing on the Tesco supermarket car park, near the entrance to the underground parking spaces.

The 52-year-old victim suffered injuries to her legs.

She was treated a the scene by paramedics before being taken to Salford Royal Hosptial for further assessment.

Her injuries are described as “quite serious” but are not thought to be life-threatening.

The female driver of the Vauxhall stayed with the woman and called in the emergency services.

She has not been arrested and police are treating the incident as an accident.

Torrential downpours across the city have caused hazardous driving conditions today.

Earlier, police closed the A57 Mancunian Way due to flooding.
