Salford and Bolton shootings: Two more houses shot at in targeted attacks

Escalating violence in Salford overnight has seen gunmen target two houses in Little Hulton and nearby Bolton.

It is understood to be gang-related violence between two specific groups, with no threat to the wider community.

Shots were fired at a property on Worsley Road on the Farnworth/Walkden border at 10pm on Saturday 10 October, but only damage was caused to the front door of the house.

It’s understood four shots were fired by a gunman on a motorbike.

At 11.25pm the same night, the downstairs front window of a house on Gorse Drive in Little Hulton was shot at.

Armed police swarmed to both areas, closing off entire streets.

At 3.45pm on Saturday 10 October a man in his 20s was airlifted to Manchester Royal Infirmary after being shot in the stomach on Cannon Street in Bolton.

Detective Inspector Joe Clarke from Salford division, said: “We have launched an investigation and, although it is still in the early stages, we do believe this was a targeted attack and that there is no wider threat to the community.

“In recent weeks there have been a number of incidents involving firearms in Salford and I understand people will be alarmed when they hear about what happened last night.

“We will continue with our work to stop criminals from damaging our communities and we have extra officers in both areas to offer some reassurance.

“Fortunately no-one was injured, but the threat to life in these instances is very real and it is vital that we, along with the support of the community, catch those responsible and stop this from happening.

“If you have any concerns about the incidents, or any information that you want to pass on, please speak to police, in confidence.

“I would urge the local community to come forward if they saw or heard anything in their area at the time of the incidents to get in touch as a matter of urgency.”
