AFC Monton reserves hosted third placed Dukinfield Town reserves for this second division league fixture and produced a very composed display of attacking football combined with a solid work ethic. The ability to select a side from a larger than normal pool of new players is a clear indication that this is the way this team must be run as the competition for places produced their best performance of the season so far.
The Ammies dictated the pace and tempo of the game from start to finish and after Mark Bradshaw opened the scoring for them with a well taken first half goal they never looked in any danger.
A quality second half, twenty-five yard free kick scored by Connor Fletcher doubled Monton’s advantage and they remained in control throughout the final thirty minutes, playing with good confidence and discipline.
