Armed police raid house on Gorse Drive in wake of Little Hulton shooting


Armed officers closed off Gorse Drive in Little Hulton and raided a house on the street.

One eyewitness told how around 15 tactical aid unit officers arrived on Gorse Drive at around 1.45pm today, Monday 6 June.

The house in question remains taped off this afternoon.

Police are investigating the shooting of a 33-year-old man on Saturday evening on Mill Hill in Little Hulton.

Gorse Drive is just three streets away from the location where the man was shot.

Neighbours reported the man was lying sunbathing in the street at around 9.25pm when he was approached by a male with a gun and shot once in the chest.

Members of the public rushed to his aid before he was taken to hospital and treated in intensive care.

His condition was later upgraded from ‘critical’ to ‘stable’.

Detectives believe the shooting stems from an ongoing dispute between two families in Little Hulton, but have made no further statement as regards a possible motive.

In March police linked a shotgun attack on a house on Gorse Drive to a long-running feud over cocaine supply in Salford.

Greater Manchester Police were not immediately available for comment.

Detective Superintendent Emily Higham told press over the weekend that an investigation into Saturday’s shooting had been launched but was at an early stage, and that extra patrols would be seen throughout Little Hulton as the probe continued.
