Police probe after men, 34 and 40, injured in Ordsall double stabbing

Detectives are investigating after two men were found with stab wounds in Ordsall last night.

Officers were called to Taylorson Street, between the Nine Acre Court tower block and Ordsall Park, at 10.20pm on Wednesday evening.

They found two men with serious knife wounds.

Both men are understood to live at Nine Acre Court.

One man, age 34, was treated for stab injuries to his chest and leg.

His injuries are thought to be serious, but not life-threatening.

The second victim, 40, suffered a stab wound to his buttock along with cuts and grazes.

Police believe at this time that the two men were approached on Wednesday evening outside the tower block on Taylorson Street and set upon by two other males.

Officers are still sourcing a possible description of the attackers.

Both victims were treated at the scene before being taken to hospital in separate ambulances.

Detectives are investigating on the basis that the victims have suffered grievous bodily harm (Section 18 assault/wounding with intent).

One local resident, who asked not to be named, said: “Police have been here since last night and everywhere is still cordoned off.

“We’re not being told what’s happening and obviously it’s quite scary.

“The two men who were injured are well-known round here.”

By Thursday morning, police were still standing guard outside Nine Acre Court, with more uniformed officers stood at routes through the estate towards the park.

Police are now appealing for more information and witnesses to come forward.
