A man has been shot in the back in Little Hulton, Salford.
Armed police were called to a house on Mossbrook Drive in Little Hulton at midnight last night, Friday 9 October, to reports that a single gunshot had been fired through the front window.
Police cordoned off the house and are still on scene this morning, Saturday 10 October.
The victim is believed to have been sitting on his couch in the front room of the house at the time of the shooting.
He was hit in the back but escaped major injury.
It’s not yet known whether the shooter approached the house on foot or by car.
It’s understood the victim suffered only a flesh wound and was treated at the scene before being taken by ambulance to hospital under armed guard.
Greater Manchester Police report the victim is 48, which conflicts with earlier indications locally that the victim was a 21-year-old man.
Local residents reported the sound of a single gunshot, followed by armed police, five police cars, a Tactical Aid Unit van along with two rapid response ambulances arriving at the scene.
It is understood to be a targeted attack.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers were called shortly after midnight last night to reports of a firearms incident at a house on Mossbrook Drive, Little Hulton.
“Police discovered damage to a front window consistent with a firearms discharge.
“A 48-year-old man has been taken to hospital.
“Enquiries are ongoing and there have been no arrests.”

It’s the latest shooting in a series of violent incidents in Little Hulton.
34-year-old father Darren Williams was shot three times in the upper arm and chest on Consiton Avenue on Monday 5 October.
A 21-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder was yesterday released on police bail until 19 November.

Two houses were shot at in what police called ‘targeted attacks’ on Thornfield Grove in August and Crescent Drive in September.
After the Thornfield Grove shooting five men, all under the age of 21, were arrested on suspicion of a variety of offences including drugs possession and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
All were bailed to reappear before police on Friday 9 October.
As part of the investigation a 17-year-old and 20-year-old were arrested on weapons and drugs charges after a raid at a house on Mossbrook Drive in Little Hulton. Officers seized cannabis growing equipment from the property.
