Salford hit and run: Silver Audi mows down woman on Langworthy Road

A woman was hit by a speeding Audi driver as she crossed the road in Salford, police have confirmed.

Fire engines, police and ambulance crews were called to Langworthy Road in Irlams o’th Height, near the mini-roundabout leading to Bolton Road, at 5.10pm last night, Wednesday 18 November.

Police closed off the road while paramedics worked on the 49-year-old woman, who was left sprawling in the road by the car.

She was conscious and breathing at the scene but was taken to Salford Royal hospital with a suspected severe head injury.

Doctors found the victim had deep laceration to her head as well as fractured ribs, but a brain scan luckily revealed no life-threatening injuries.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at the time and may have seen a silver Audi A4 either coming off the A580 East Lancs Road, at the mini-roundabout, or speeding off down Langworthy Road in the direction of Salford.

It was the second reported hit and run in Salford in one day.

Just hours later, as reported here by SalfordOnline.com, a 65-year-old biker was thrown from his motorbike after being hit by a black 4×4 in Eccles, which also sped off from the scene.
